A Warm Welcome to Great Haddon Primary School
We are thrilled to welcome our very first families to Great Haddon Primary School, opening in September 2026!
This is an exciting milestone for our new school community.
We are delighted to share the appointment of our new Head of School, Mrs Michele Stuffins.
Mrs Stuffins brings a wealth of experience. She is very much looking forward to meeting families and working in partnership as Great Haddon Primary opens.
Key information for our September 2026 intake:
• Great Haddon Primary will open with one class
• The class will be based temporarily at Hampton College Primary Phase while our new school building is completed (expected early 2027)
• Children will be fully part of the Great Haddon Primary community from day one
Over the coming weeks, families will receive:
• Details of transition arrangements and key dates
• Information about stay and play sessions
• Opportunities to meet the team and Mrs Stuffins
• Individual visits and a supportive start to school
We’re looking forward to hosting a ‘Meet and Greet’ event, giving families the chance to enjoy coffee and cake while meeting Mrs Stuffins and the school team.
We are so excited to welcome our new families and to start building the Great Haddon Primary community together.
Great Haddon Primary School – Building Progress Update!
Exciting progress on the new Great Haddon Primary School building!
The steel frame is now up, giving the very first full glimpse of the school’s shape and size. You can now clearly see the structure from the roadside as you drive past, a fantastic milestone for the project.
We’re thrilled to share a couple of photos showing the latest progress on site. The building is really starting to take form, and we can’t wait to watch it continue to grow over the coming months.
Building work on our new primary school Great Haddon Primary School is under way, following a special groundbreaking ceremony.
Councillors, dignitaries, representatives from Hampton Academies Trust and Morgan Sindall Construction along with children from Hampton Lakes primary gathered at the construction site to officially put the first spades in the ground.
The 420-place primary school is expected to open in January 2027 and will serve new families moving to Great Haddon.
Once established, it will provide places for 60 children in each year group. While the permanent school building is being completed, reception year pupils will be temporarily housed at Hampton College Primary Phase from September 2026 until its opening.

Great Haddon Primary School: Statutory Consultation

Hampton Academies Trust is planning to open its fourth primary school, Great Haddon, in September 2026. As part of the process for opening a school, we are required to consult with the local community and stakeholders about our plans. We view this as a good opportunity to hear your views. Great Haddon Primary School is due to open in September 2026 to Reception children and will be located on the new Great Haddon development. The school will open in temporary accommodation at Hampton College Primary Phase until the new building is ready.

Can I speak to someone about your plans?
We are holding drop-in open events at Hampton College Primary School for anyone who would like to hear more about our plans. If you are a parent of a child under 4 and live on the Great Haddon development, we are particularly keen to hear from you. All of these events will be attended by Dr Helen Price, Executive Headteacher, Caroline Behan, Finance Director and Karen Archibald, School Improvement Lead (Primary). On each occasion we will have school plans available, and will be able to answer any questions you might have.

The Hampton Academies Trust has been confirmed as the education provider for the first primary school on the Great Haddon development. The school will open in September 2026 and will grow over time to into a two-form entry primary school with a nursery.
The trust is delighted to be working in partnership with Peterborough City Council to provide new school places in this rapidly growing part of the city. This will be the third free school project the trust has delivered with the council in recent years, following the successful opening and growth of Hampton Gardens School and Hampton Lakes primary School.

In the months before the school opens we will be holding information events for parents/ carers and keeping the whole community updated about the progress of the building via our social media feeds. From our many years of operating on the Hampton development, we understand how schools can put the heart and soul into new communities. Our vision is to combine a strong emphasis on learning and progress with an inclusive ethos, which fosters respect, well-being and the rounded development of the whole child."
